Nigel Dancey is a Senior Executive Partner and Head of Studio. After joining the practice in London in 1990, his career has taken him around the world to deliver landmark projects, and most recently, he has overseen the design of three towers in New York: 425 Park Avenue, a high-rise scheme for Citadel at 350 Park Avenue and 275 Park Avenue, a new net-zero global headquarters for JP Morgan Chase, as well as successfully completing Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia. Nigel has grown his core team of architects that worked on the award-winning McLaren Technology Centre in the early 2000s to a multidisciplinary network spanning Madrid, New York and London. Despite this global spread, he maintains a strong team spirit, with a collaborative and supportive culture. His approach to architecture is rooted in dialogue; in building successful long-term relationships with clients, to ensure that each project not only meets but exceeds their expectations. His interest is in creating more humane, advanced hospitals and medical spaces, and in the potential of architecture to support collaboration. Through buildings for the Mayo Clinic, Iowa Children’s Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering in the USA, he has helped to significantly grow the practice’s expertise in the healthcare sector. These projects share an aim of improving the experience for patient, family and clinicians, with designs rooted in humanity and an understanding of the psychology of space.
